For the love of
We’re talking about document control in class; it’s a subject that I absolutely despise. Document control is all about how and where you might file a document. Yes, I’m sure you’re already asleep too. I slept like hell last night for some reason or other and I’ve been finding it difficult to stay awake so I’ve been finding fault with everything that I can in order to stay awake through the mind numbing drudgery.
I’ve only got until Friday morning but it seems like its not going to end soon enough.

Lightning Rod of Hate
More than anything else, GW, the “Commander Guy”, the decider, Dubya, or Bush, attracts more of my hate than anything else. In some ways, he acts as a lightning rod for any free hate that I might have at any given moment. I had a little time today to do some reading and I found a few reasons we should just get rid of his goofy cowboy ass. Dubya believes that his interpretation of the law and the constitution allows him to bypass legislation that he signed into law. Most of the laws he has reserved the right to ignore deal with the military. His belief is that as the commander in chief congress has no oversight of his decisions when concerning military action. I believe in checks and balances and I think that the President should always have a check. Unfortunately I’m not a deciding authority and this would be best left to the Supreme Court. Then again, we could use the ultimate check and just impeach his goofy country gun slinging ass.
It’s not only congress that doesn’t agree with what he’s doing but a large number of generals are starting to stand out and openly criticize Dubya. Of course, due to the laws in the UCMJ these are only retired generals. There has been speculation that generals that are currently serving could openly revolt against his decisions if the troop surge fails to work by the end of the year.
Outside of our borders even more people with that he would quickly leave office and let someone else make some decisions. The parliament in Iraq is drafting legislation to get us to move out should they reach specific benchmarks. If they approve the legislation and meet the benchmarks we have little choice but to leave and let them run the country. It is not our right to tell them how to run it as soon as they ask us to leave.
As long as he remains in office he is going to attract hate from people across the planet. Lets hope he doesn’t do any more long term damage in our relations with the rest of the world. We really don’t need to give fundamentalists more reasons to hate us because it makes the hate much easier to spread.

So anyhow
The last week of class wasn’t all that bad as I hadn’t covered the large majority of the material in any other format. This week looks to be an almost complete waste of my time. The first half of the week is going to cover my primary job function. There is no new information for me to absorb. I’ve read through most of it and some of it is wrong… this bothers me. Sure, its not my class but teaching everybody else the wrong way is not going to make us all any money in the end. It looks like I’ll be leaving here on Friday night to spend the night in Dallas. I decided it was much easier to do that than leave here at 3AM so I can turn in the rental car two hours early. If I’m near the airport I only have to wake up around 4AM… Sure, it will suck but I sleep on planes so its all good for me.
The sun was out and it did strike me as I stood outside talking on the phone yesterday. When I was in my room last night I noticed that I was slightly red but I checked this morning and it all went straight to brown. I’m glad that I still brown easily because getting red is well… painful. I’m still dayglow by the standards of those that are tan and those that look like leather but I’ve got an initial line of defense… and I’m working on my skin cancer (yes, thats sarcasm).
Nothing great in the news the last few days… its a shame… I really want something to rant about

Ahh the booze
So, in an effort to come out of my shell a little I asked if people were going out for the evening. I already knew that they were but I wanted an invite. So, along with them I went to go get my booze on. Like normal, I had to eat something first so I wandered over to Taco Hell. My thinking was that whatever I ate I had to be cool with leaving on the ground later if worst came to worst. Luckily, things turned out well for me and I didn’t have to worry about that. The bar had a special and it was fifty cent drinks for the entire night. Seeing as I wanted to be able to function in the morning I stuck to Bud Light. Sure, it tastes like crap and the alcohol content is low but it allows you to become “more social” and hang out with everyone else. If I did my normal and started drinking straight booze I would have not survived the evening. I tend to not drink on school nights because I sleep poorly; I know how I react to booze even if its a small quantity. This morning I woke up an hour late… normally this would make me late for work but seeing that I was only on the other side of base I still had a half hour to spare before I had to walk out the door. I don’t think I’ll ever drink heavily on a school night here because I’m bound to not show up for class. I also don’t want to be inebriated in the AM because driving drunk to school and showing up drunk would be a bad career move. I’ve got a test in a few hours so I need to study some more (yes, I studied last night before I went off to kill some brain cells… besides, booze only targets the weak ones right?)

What about Bob?
The end of an icon is only just around the corner and I’m sure you’re not even aware that its about to occur; unless you’re a housewife or have been sick and have had the chance to watch CBS before the soaps came on. I’m sure most of you have watched more than an episode of the Price is Right. The show has gone through countless announcers (well three), but the host of the show has always been one man: Bob Barker. Bob is on his way out and there is a great story about him over at the Washington Post. Its well worth the read.

Texas and school
I’m hanging out in Texas for the next two weeks to take a class that will allow me to upgrade to the next skill level in my current career field. I’ve read through most of the material that they’ve given me and it seems that I won’t be learning all that much in my time here. Its not that they aren’t teaching us anything its just that I already know the majority of what they are going to teach.
