  • Wedding Day

Date: 2007.09.23 | Category: I was too lazy to organize these | Response: 0

After a six years together and a year and a half engagement, Leanne and Jeff are now Mr. and Mrs. Oxborough. Saturday September 22, 2007 at 4:00pm was the wedding and the reception started at about 4:15pm. It was beautiful. It was held at Lake Lawrence Lodge in Yelm, WA. We got the key to the lodge on Friday at noon.It only took about 3 hours to turn it into the perfect wedding hall. It was hard work but between our family and Jeff’s family, we got it done with a quickness. Saturday morning was full of hair and makeup, then we got dresses on at the lodge and pictures to follow.

The ceremony was short but sweet. They had a very close friend of theirs perform the ceremony for them and she did an absolutely amazing job. It was so surreal, but beautiful to see them up there together. It was a long time coming and it was worth it. I am SO happy for them.

The food was from Casa Mia and so delicious. The Cake was amazing too. Gosh, we had so much fun. It was a blast. The only that my sister said she really wanted to have at her wedding was fun. Mission accomplished. Of course It was a sappy day and I cried about 50 different times, like when they said their vows, when my dad walked her down the aisle, the father daughter dance, and the speeches. It was an open mic. for speeches so I tried to make a good one but couldn’t get too many words out. It was an amazing day.

So CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. and Mrs. Jeff and Leanne Oxborough!

  • Conspiracy theories

Ok, so a few weeks ago nukes were transported from Minot AFB to Barksdale AFB – nuclear surety was trampled as “nobody knew it happened.” Some believe it was a plot to steal a weapon so that we can bomb ourselves so that we can blame it on Iran and bomb them back… Several air force members (who happened to be assigned to Minot/Barksdale) have recently died from a series of accidents. Normally I don’t buy into conspiracy theories but I know how much security we give to stuff that I get to move around. I’ve heard stories of how much security special weapons get. I don’t know how this could have happened. The theories are extremely interesting and well thought out – they might be better thought out than the theory that there was no plane that crashed into the pentagon but it was done deliberately by the US govt.

All of the links are interesting reads – I’m guessing its really nothing but if the information keeps on piling up I might join the conspiracy boat.

  • The economics of a DUI conviction

Date: 2007.09.19 | Category: I was too lazy to organize these | Response: 0

Arizona has enacted a new DUI law that seeks to impose harsh penalties on first time offenders that are excessively drunk. Recently, as I’ve gotten to know more non-military peeps I’ve found that most of them aren’t afraid of getting a DUI. They feel that they can drive without any impairment and that if caught it won’t be that bad. They’ve weighed out the expected cost of a DUI and think its worth the cost – its economically feasible to drink in drive in their judgement.

So, instead of putting people in jail for DUI offenses I think we should make it economically not feasible for people to drink and drive. In my opinion, the govt should immediately seize their vehicle and sell it auction. If their vehicle is on a loan they should be forced to pay off the remainder while owning nothing at all. Car dealerships should check liscences to see if someone is suspended – they should face stiff penalties for selling a car to a person that has a recent DUI offense for the first 45 days. Rental agencies should also check their liscences for DUI convictions and not allow anyone with a conviction to drive for 45 days. Its an extreme economic penalty and the only thing we are missing is the legislative action and a national DUI database – it shouldn’t be that hard to get one going – what the hell else is the Dept of Homeland Security going to with their funding and massive work force?

There are some that will lawyer up and find that this penalty is mere pittance – heck they may cheat the system. Maybe a mandatory garnishment of 40% of an individuals earnings are in order. I’m not sure what people think they are doing while driving drunk but its extremely irresponsible behavior and I wish it would stop. Increase the penalty to a point that its no longer economically feasible and you’ll stop everyone except die hard criminals and alcoholics – these people can go to jail – the rest can pay an exorbitant fee to the govt and pay for better roads, or more cops, or whatever congress thinks is worthy of the extra income

  • Thank the Lord.

Remission is the state of absence of disease activity in patients with known chronic illness. It is commonly used to refer to absence of active cancer.

There it is. The word we’ve been waiting to hear for nearly 6 months now. My Father is now an official cancer survivor. This is the best thing in the world right now. Although, he will have to go see the Doc every 3 months and keep getting checked over for signs of return of the cancer.  I don’t think he minds this too much. He is now ready to get back to his life. He’s going to start regaining his strength, eating more foods, going back to work, and running dogs. He has been very strong through all of this and I could not be prouder of him. YAY, my daddy is all better.

  • I want to ride the SLUT!

Some one out there made the dubiously bad decision to name a trolley to be built in Seattle the South Lake Union Trolley. If you were to look at the acronym its the SLUT… they changed the name but from here on out most people know it only as the SLUT. This is so freakin awesome – they even have t-shirts! I’m going to ride the SLUT when it gets finished. I only hope that I don’t end up with some awful venerial disease.

  • Scottish humor

Date: 2007.09.18 | Category: I was too lazy to organize these | Response: 0

Found this while killing time at work – no, I’m not lazy its just that our shop is tore to pieces and I can’t do any of the work I need to do over there. Why is it tore up? We’re getting new carpet and all of our stuff is cram packed into the maintenance bays. So, I’m hanging out at control for the evening.

Canadian humorist Stephen Leacock once offered some humorous observations about the use of whisky as part of Scottish culture: “The Scots do not drink. During the whole of two or three pleasant weeks spent lecturing in Scotland, I never on any occasions saw whisky made use of as a beverage. I have seen people take it, of course, as a medicine, or as a precaution against illness, or as a wise offset against a rather treacherous climate; but as a beverage, never.”

Leacock continued: “There are seventeen reasons advanced in Scotland for taking whisky. They run as follows: Reason one, because it is raining. Two, because it is not raining. Three, because you are just going out into the weather. Four, because you have just come in from the weather. Five; no, I forget the ones that come after that. But I remember that reason number seventeen is ‘because it canna do ye any harm.’ On the whole, reason seventeen is the best.” Leacock concluded that Scots make use of whisky with dignity and without shame–and they never call it alcohol.

  • Bored and broke

Date: 2007.09.17 | Category: I was too lazy to organize these | Response: 1

Its so hard to stay conveniently occupied and entertained and keep money in the bank account. As it stands now I’m on the edge of broke; but, I’m not completely broke so I still have a little bit of breathing room. The new job is going to help out a bunch and I may catch an extra couple of shifts much to the chagrin of Jessica. I need this money and I need to get ahead of things. If I work as little as 20 hours a week I’ll net a few hundred extra a month and it gets me out of hot water immediately. I’m not late on anything right now but if I went another month this way I’d be forced to start doing something drastic like selling plasma or becoming a male prostitute. I really don’t want to become a male prostitute for a few reasons (who else has time to think this out? ) – the clientèle I would draw would be much like the women that Rob Schneider attracted in Deuce Biggalo, the STD’s would be a huge drawback, the military would probably imprison me for trying (thus exacerbating the lack of income), and it would drive Jessica away (again, another bad thing). I could start selling my plasma to make a few bucks here and there but it freakin hurts. I had a friend in HS whose sole source of income was from the plasma he harvested from his body. I’m waiting to go to the desert because I can stop paying for a two giant money killers: rent and food. Both are paid for in the desert and I can take that cash and throw it on a bill. Hopefully, I’ll be down one credit card by the time I get back. If I’m good I’ll be able to get one partially gone before I leave.

It sucks being broke but its nobody’s fault but my own. I’m stupid for doing it and I hope to hell I’ll figure out how dumb I’ve been and never repeat my mistake.

Boredom is synonymous with a lack of creativity and lack of cash flow. There are very few things I can do that take absolutely no money. Think about it – if you want to go somewhere you’ve got to drive and use gas – even if you spend nothing while there you’re out the gas. Unfortunately if you’re gone for long enough you’ll need to bring some food. Sure, you’ve got some stuff in your house that you can bring with you but thats the stuff you bought for lunches during the week. The other option is to eat on the road and spend cash that you didn’t want to spend in the first place.

So, if you’ve got some extremely low cost ideas on how to spend your off duty time let me know – you can only watch TV and goof around on the internet so much – both of which cost money – before you’ve run the gamut and need to find something else to do.

Gee – this was quite a long rambling post – it saved me from boredom for a few minutes but its a solo activity and left out somebody thats sitting on the couch begging for my attention
