The Debate

When I was in high school I loved debate class. I spent more of my time and energy on that class than any other subject. There was something about humiliating another person with logic, reason, and facts that drew me in from the start. For the large part, I spent my time debating varsity and I decimated some of my opponents. There were a few times when I would have members in the audience stifle laughter when the other team tried to fight back – it was a futile effort. You would think that I would have eventually enrolled in law school…. Despite my love for debates, I didn’t watch the debate that happended earlier tonight between the two Presidential candidates.

We debated with facts and logic. They debate with ideals and ideas. None have been tested and all we can do is look at the past to see if something similar has worked. One candidate will blame his opponents party for a failed plan while leaving out the fact that his party might have something to do with it. The situation at the time may have had more factors than just the legislation and fault cannot be determined. Presidential debate content lives in shades of grey. I’d rather save myself 90 minutes and spend a scant 15 reading opinions on the debate. That is the only way to determine who won – opinion. So, after a little searching I found a good synopsis of the debate. Its not fantastic because it is, after all, opinion.
